Every year, the pioneers of our industry assemble to reflect on the last year’s challenges as well as its achievements. In a year of unprecedented changes, we are especially anticipating this opportunity to reflect with our partners and home furnishings leaders in the industry.
A Year of Challenge, Change, and Growth
Malcolm Gladwell is most commonly associated with the “tipping point” concept. Many of the home furnishings leaders recognize this as an inflection point. No matter the definition, each year there are indicators that our industry is growing ever closer to that inflection point. For MicroD and many in the industry, we believe that time has come.
2018 brought a new set of challenges for home furnishings leaders and businesses of all sizes. It also is a year where many of the challenges we saw culminate over the last several years “grew legs”. Amazon took retailers for another spin by entering the brick and mortar segment. Tariffs crippled the industry. Consumers became even more demanding of the retail experience. Product visualization picked up speed as many companies took a seat at the table with 3D visualization companies like MicroD. It has been a year of change, challenge, and growth.
Keynote Introduction
Each year, MicroD is fortunate to sponsor the cornerstone event by Furniture Today. One of the most exciting elements of the Leadership Conference experience is introducing the keynote speaker. This year, Richard Sexton will kick off the event’s keynote address by introducing Major General Vincent E. Boles. In our time preparing for this outstanding opportunity, we learned so much about the remarkable leadership of Former Major General Boles. As a leader in the military during times of stress, we as home furnishings leaders could see parallels to our industry’s leadership in the times of stress.
